We are avid readers here at the Ashram and we have an exceptional library, which Mental Guru brilliantly designed and built for us with just a spoon and some wood – such is his incredible creative talent. Admittedly the purposely designed slanted shelves aren’t to everyone’s taste but the selection of cozy hammocks and the stream now running through the centre of the room make it a true haven of peace and relaxation.
Anyhow, as we all read so much and have such eclectic taste in reading material we thought you might be interested in hearing about what books we have been reading recently. You know we don’t just read holy books and scripture, in fact very much the opposite!
I just recently finished INCOMPETENCE by Rob Grant, who was one of the originators and writers of the tv series Red Dwarf. Described as a novel of the far too near future, it is a detective story set in a world overrun by total and utter incompetence. Our main character, who operates under a series of different top secret identities but is most commonly known as Harry Salt, feels himself to be the last remaining sensible human being on the planet and so solving the murder mystery in a world of such incompetence truly tests his patience and the journey we follow him on is laugh out loud hilarious at times.
The book is an easy read, great fun and really imaginative. I can certainly recommend.
Please feel free to share your thoughts on the book in the comments below or even to recommend your favourite books. We are willing to give anything a try.
